The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today [Saturday] hold a parliamentary primary in the Ablekuma West Constituency to elect a nominee to represent the party in the November polls.
The primary in the area has been delayed for nearly nine months following disagreements over the constituency’s voters’ register.
Three persons will be contesting in the race namely; the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Roni Nicole and Theo Tetteh.
Aspirants confident
Speaking to Citi News, Ursula Owusu said she has unfinished business in the constituency and expressed the hope that she will emerge victorious.
She told Citi News, “I am relieved and very confident that victory is mine on Saturday. I am relieved because it is long and coming and I’m glad that we have a chance to finish preparatory work towards launching our campaign to retain the seat and maximize our votes for the flagbearer and hopefully win the general elections as well.”
Ursula Owusu-Ekuful said she has over the years helped to transform the area as an MP by lobbying for a number of projects to be executed.
Another aspirant in the race, who’s believed to the incumbent MP’s closest challenger, Roni Nicole, told Citi News said he will pull up a surprise on Saturday.
He said he is in the race because the NPP believes in democracy and it is his civic duty to ultimately represent the people of Ablekuma West in Parliament.
“I believe the Lord will certainly make me victorious in the election on Saturday.”
