The Electoral Commission has reassigned its acting Director of Public Relations, Christian Owusu Parry.

He has now been moved to the administration department of the commission. The Commission has also moved Ms Sylvia Annor, a principal Public Relations Officer to take care of protocol.

[contextly_sidebar id=”FohHuVQgy340La8FI9UlRkHzAqHuorg6″]It is unclear why the changes were made however; the EC has declared the position of head of public relations and communications vacant.

A notice signed by Mr. Samuel D. Boadu, acting Director of Human Resource at the EC, said interested persons should be staff of the Commission.

“The Commission has declared vacancy for the position of Head of Public Relations and Communications only to staff of the Commission,” the notice added.

The commission further outlined the education and experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in the vacancy announcement.

Mr. Parry was the acting Director of Public Affairs at the EC in June 2008, before he headed the communication’s and Public Relations department of the commission.

Beginning of Mr Parry’s woes

Reports from the grapevine indicates that Mr. Parry had been bashed by the commission for some misinformation on the EC’s controversial 18-member Election Steering Committee.

The Commission had a tough time explaining to Ghanaians that it had not dissolved the committee after information went out to suggest that it had been dissolved.

Some pro-opposition pressure groups including AFAG and Let My Vote Count Alliance, had raised red-flags against some members of the committee saying the composition was politically biased hence must be dissolved.
