A joint operation by police personnel from the SWAT division of the Rapid Deployment Force and officers from the Prestea division of the Ghana Police Service in the Western Region on Saturday whisked away one Aaron Ackah, who was about to put a ring on the finger of his bride at the Aldersgate Society Methodist Church at West Anaji in Takoradi.
Aaron and his bride had finished exchanging the sacred marriage vows and the officiating minister was just about to direct them to wear the rings when two plain-clothed security personnel stormed the church and whisked him away.
The arrest of Aaron, which led to the immediate collapse of the bride and to the shock of the fully packed building, was alleged to be in connection with a robbery incident in Prestea.
The excitement which had filled the church was cut short as many of the awe-stricken guests started weeping and wailing.
Aaron Ackah, according to police sources is alleged to have robbed a Chinese small-scale miner of an amount of GHc18,000, inflicted knife wounds on victim’s left arm four (4) days ago at Aniamote, a small community in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region.
While efforts were made to resuscitate the bride, Rebecca Buah, the bridegroom Aaron was taken to Prestea for further investigations.
