One of the most-talked about Ghanaian movies in recent times, ‘Amakye & Dede’, arguably became one of the most attended premieres at the Silverbird Cinemas on Easter Saturday March 26, 2016.
Management of Silverbird Cinemas say the comedy movie, premiered at the Accra Mall and the West Hills Mall, could pass for the most patronized premiere of any local production.
Business Manager for the company, Justice Grant in an interview with Zionfelix.com disclosed that many people from far and near bought tickets to watch on the first day of premiere.
“Even though I’m yet to check the numbers properly, per estimations and all that you could tell it is the biggest premiere ever at Accra Mall and West Hills Mall” Justice Grant said.
Interestingly, the movie Kalybos In China, also produced by Kofi Asamoah of Kofas Media, was one of the most watched when it was premiered at the Silverbird Cinemas last year.
“The producer has beaten his own records because it was Kalybos In China and that movie was from same producer of Amakye & Dede”, Mr. Grant noted.
Mr. Grant however refused to disclose the number of tickets purchased and the proceeds generated from Amakye & Dede premiere.
The young Producer of the movie, Kofi Asamoah, says on the day of premiere alone, the SilverBird cinemas both at the West Hills Mall and Accra Mall stopped showing any other movie to make way for the heavy demand to watch the movie.
Silverbird Cinemas at the West Hills had an unprecedented total of 16 showings and 13 showing at the Accra Mall just on the night of the premiere. The movie, which is still showing for the next two weeks, is still attracting very impressive patronage.
Amakye & Dede produced by Kofas Media, features renowned Ghanaian actors like Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Kalybos, AHuofe Patricia, Roselyn Ngissah, Emelia Brobbey, Yaw Dabo, Apostle John Prah, Grace Nortey, Moesha Boudang and many others.
