The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atebubu Amantin in the Brong Ahafo Region, who has been accused by the police of instigating Tuesday’s clashes that led to an NDC party office being set ablaze, has had his official bungalow allegedly ransacked by irate NDC youth.
The dismissed DCE, Sampson Owusu Boateng, reported at the police station on Thursday, a day after the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command declared him wanted for allegedly instigating the youth to cause the destruction at the party office.
The Public Relations Officer of the Regional Police Command, ASP Christopher Tawiah, told Citi News the former DCE turned himself in by lodging a complaint that his house had been attacked by some unknown persons.

He however says there is calm in the area.
“The situation on the ground is calm and the police have been able to maintain law and order there. The DISEC met yesterday [Wednesday] and they called him from his hideout and he also came. You know his bungalow was also vandalized; people went there to ransack the place so he was also advised to lodge a complaint to the police. So the police command has sent more men to the area to maintain law and order and to make sure peace and tranquillity remains”.
The former DCE, who was removed from office, appears to be at loggerheads with the MP for the area, Sanja Nanja, who he accuses of masterminding his removal from office.
It now appears that the supporters of the dismissed DCE were responsible for the attack on the party’s office, whereas those against the DCE, who support the MP, have retaliated with an attack on the former DCE’s bungalow.
The MP, Sanja Nanja, speaking on Accra-based Adom FM, accused the DCE of mobilising his tribesmen and supporters to attack the party office following a request for him to return his official vehicle after he was removed from office by the Local Government Minister, Collins Dauda.
It is unclear how far the police will go in prosecuting the culprits in this matter, considering that such intra-political party matters have mostly been swept under the carpet.
