Outgoing governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Henry Kofi Wampah has expressed gratitude to the financial sector for their support during his tenure.

The governor who is bowing out today from his position for early retirement also thanked the finance minister Seth Tekper for his support.

[contextly_sidebar id=”5SIYD8tFKPHBzhOxj5Az3EmKPfblqcIl”]Dr Henry Wampah was due to retire from the bank in August this year.

He however announced early this week he will rather retire effective today.

A lot of reasons have been cited for his early exit including the poor management of the microfinance industry, the cedi as well as inflation.

But speaking to bankers during the launch of First National Bank’s operations in Ghana, Dr Wampah said he was grateful for the industry’s support.

‘Let me use the opportunity to thank all those in the financial sector for the cooperation you have given me during my tenure and particularly I want to thank the minister of finance.

We have worked together for quite some time now when I was deputy governor he was also a deputy finance minister and then he moved to the minister and then I also moved to the position of the governor am very grateful for his partnership’.
