Some angry youth at the Kwahu Ridge and its surrounding villages, numbering about 300, have besieged the forecourt of Abetifihene’s palace clad in red in protest against the chiefs for allowing Fulani herdsmen who destroy their farms to settle in the area.
The Kwahu Traditional council chiefs led by their acting President, Nana Acheamfor Aseidu Agyemang, were in a crunch meeting with New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, this morning when the angry youth stormed the palace forecourt chanting war songs.

The Abetifihene, upset with the protests, called a police team to the scene to prevent any mayhem.
Kojo Agyemang, one of the group’s spokespersons, accused the chiefs of giving their lands to the nomadic herdsmen.
He stated that, the chiefs had promised to sack the Fulanis before this past Easter but they have not heard anything from them,
They thus decided to besiege the palace and express displeasure with the Fulani herdsmen who they say are terrorising them.
Police have arrived at the scene but the youth are still resolute at the forecourt of the palace picketing.
It should be noted that last month, Nana Akyemfo Asiedu Agyeman charged his people to arm themselves and clear the Fulanis in the area by next month if government failed to tackle the issue.
He said he will lead his people to drive out the Fulani herdsmen with machetes and guns if the authorities do not act quickly.
Little did Nana Akyemfo Asiedu Agyeman know that the people would turn on the council if Government could not deal with their issues with the Fulani.
The Fulani herdsmen have gained notoriety over the years for various alleged vices like robbery, murder, rape and destruction of farmlands using their cattle.
