Citi FM and its partners have moved to touch the lives of some orphans in the country.
This year, three orphanages across the country will benefit from Citi FM’s Easter Orphan project which takes place on every Easter Monday.
They include the Baptist School Complex (BASCO), an orphanage at Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region, the Handivangelism Orphanage at Haatso in Accra, and Mama Laadi Orphanage at Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.
The team set off from the premises of Citi FM early on Monday morning.
Operations Manager at Citi FM, Philip Kofi Ashon, told Citi News that the station took the initiative because of its commitment to ensuring that the children, especially those in various orphanages are comfortable.
“I believe the listeners who will be joining us will also have a fulfilling time spending Easter Monday with these children. The whole idea is to empower these children, if we have to do it for the next 20 years, that will be the main focus.”
“We have collaborated with our listeners and they’ve brought together everything, from bags of rice, to confectioneries and we are going to give them to the children in these orphanages. We will spend time with them and advise them, we will eat with them. We are basically giving them something to look forward to.”
The Easter Orphan Project is Citi FM’s annual social responsibility project, which raises funds and collects items from its cherished listeners, to support selected orphanages and under -developed communities in the country.
Over the years, Citi FM has also extended help to the Akuse and Kumasi Prisons among others.”
