It has been fun and a celebration for people in Kwahu for the 11th edition of the annual Easter paragliding festival which kicked off on Friday.

Although security has been intensified in the area, in the wake of the terror attacks within the West African sub-region, it did not deter celebrants as hundreds of Ghanaians and expatriates thronged the area.

Many believe the paragliding has become one of the main showcases of the Kwahu Easter celebrations each year.

The festival was an innovation by the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, then Minister of Tourism who introduced it as part of the Kwahu Easter celebrations in 2005.

This year’s event was held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry and is aimed at promoting paragliding as patrons converged on the Odweanoma Mountain in Atibie, where pilots from Europe, Australia and Asia facilitated the paragliding.
