Mariah Carey has cancelled her show in Brussels on Sunday over security concerns after Tuesday’s bombings.

Two suicide attacks in the city left 31 people dead and hundreds injured.

Writing on Twitter, the singer said: “I love my fans in Brussels and at this time I am being advised to cancel my show for the safety of my fans, my band, crew and everyone involved with the tour.”

The 45-year-old began her tour in Scotland last week.

She travels through Europe and South Africa in April and May followed by a gig in New Orleans in June.

Mariah had been scheduled to sing on Sunday at the Forest National arena near Brussels.

The venue itself has said that all other concerts will go ahead, with extra security, despite Tuesday’s attacks.

“Guests are asked to come early and not bring any luggage, backpacks or large handbags, to respond to any requests of security services and to stay alert,” it said in a message on its website.

Veteran French rock singer Johnny Hallyday is going ahead with concerts on Saturday and Sunday in Brussels at the separate Palais 12, according to the venue.

After the Paris attacks in November, in which 130 people were killed, a number of major performers such as U2 and Foo Fighters cancelled or delayed shows in Paris.

Ninety people died at the Bataclan music venue during a concert by US rock band Eagles of Death Metal.

Belgium is still looking for suspects in the bombing attacks at Zaventem international airport and Maelbeek metro station.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the assault.

Mariah Carey is one of the best-selling artists of the 1990s with hits like One Sweet Day, Hero, Someday and Emotions.

She’s filming her The Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour for use in a reality TV series.

Adele and her fans paid tribute to the victims of the attacks at her London O2 Arena concert on Tuesday night.

The singer got the crowd to sing along to one of her tracks with fans lighting up the venue with the mobile phones.
