Construction of the Ho-Fume road has been completed and handed over to the government by the Contractors, Rolider Limited.

The 17.4 km stretch was divided into two – that is the 10.4km Ho-Teviefe section, and the 7 km Vane- Fume stretch.

[contextly_sidebar id=”GUcFygnET9BWyeoU9u7NIdCNIi32QMIp”]Speaking to Citi News, Anthony Lansana, Project Manager of Rolider Limited, said the entire project was valued at Ghc45million.

He said the 2-year project, which was expected to be completed in 2012 delayed due to changes in the original design resulting from the mountainous nature of the area as well as delays in mobilizing contractors.

He observed that the road  has opened up the Avatime Traditional Area and other emerging communities and enhanced vehicular movement and commercial activities.

The Engineer at the Ghana Highways Authority, Charles Baah, said the realignments and speed calming measures have been put in place to reduce motor accidents on the roads.

He said “speed calming measures such as New Jersey Barriers, Road Signs and Markings have been installed”.

He urged drivers to be cautious of the sharp curves and bends on the road.

On his part, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Francis Komla Ganyaglo, thanked the contractors for an excellent work done and called on communities along the stretch to make good use of the road to improve commerce in the area since it links the Hohoe-Jasikan-Kadjebi section of the Eastern Corridor roads.
