Sammy Crabbe’s suit against NPP suffers setback

The suit filed by the suspended Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, challenging his suspension, suffered a setback on Thursday.

This was after an Accra High Court ordered him to argue his case against the party through an affidavit. The court thus rejected the statement of case filed by his lawyers.

According to the court, the case brought before it, is seeking a determination of the legality of the actions of the National Executive Council of the NPP. It explained that this needs to be argued out with affidavits and not a statement of case filed by the plaintiff.

Mr. Crabbe in his suit argued that the two members whose petition led to his suspension, Mr. Boye Laryea and Ms. Gladys Tsotso Mann-Dedey, were not members of congress and could not have initiated such proceedings against him.

Mr. Crabbe was suspended indefinitely last year, alongside the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong. The suspension of the two came after the suspension of the National Chairman Paul Afoko.
