The Chief of Tamale in collaboration with Citi FM is planning to hold a political symposium in Tamale ahead of the November 7 polls.
Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan anticipates the event will promote political tolerance amongst the youth of Tamale for peaceful elections on November 7.
Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan in a Citi News interview said political differences should not warrant enmity.
“We shouldn’t take political differences to fight each other it doesn’t look nice because we are all the same. The political differences in the country the way I see it, we can fight it out by understanding each other. If you look at what they discuss on the breakfast show or newspaper review every morning, they use hot words on each other but at the end of the show they get up and shake each other to show that they are all wearing the flag of the nation and that is the part I like most,” Naa Dakpema narrated.
“I am still planning and thinking of what I will do about especially these two political parties, the NDC
and the NPP: they should also see each other as Ghanaians who are fighting for the nation and shouldn’t take political differences to fight each other,” he underscored.
Most often, political tensions build up in the Tamale Metropolis at the peak of every electioneering season.
Some of the identified hotspots are Aboabo, Changli, Zogebli, Lamashegu and Dagban-Daba fong in the Tamale Metropolis.
These areas accommodate political vigilante groups including the NPP’s Kandaha Boys, the NDC’s Aluta and Azorka Boys.
It is against this backdrop, that the Chief of Tamale in collaboration with Citi Fm intends to organize the political symposium to ensure peaceful elections on November 7.
