Citi Business News has gathered that government is to begin a test transmission of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network project by the close of the month.

The Ministry of Communications in October last year, signed a contract with K-Net Limited for the roll out of the country’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network project.
The contract demanded the completion of the DTT network within 12 months.
The project is structured to be executed in nine months and a further three months for resolving all emerging challenges.
In an interview with Citi Business News, the Deputy Minister of Communication, Edward Ato Sarpong, said the second phase which will commence soon is expected to be completed by the end of October 2016.
“The contract was signed in July last year and we have indicated that by March of this year we should finish. But there were some conditions precedence which we only met them in November last year that should take us to somewhere August early September so that is the timeline we are looking at,”Edward Ato Sarpong explained.
He added,“Phase one is almost done. We are even doing test transmission in Accra and Kumasi. We are bringing the broadcasters on gradually. As I speak, we have about eight broadcasters. When we bring them all on board, then the official test transmission will start. But currently, you should be able to receive a digital signal if you have a digital TV. The second phase begins immediately. We have equipment for the running of it. We have given ourselves one year to finish this process.”
