Fire has gutted a shop and some apartments on the Spintex Road around the Kotobabi traffic light in Accra.
The fire, which started this [Thursday] evening around 6:30pm, has so far destroyed several possessions running into thousands of cedis.

An eyewitness, Kwabena Nyarko, who spoke to Citi News, said the fire started at a furniture shop, Kingdom Furniture Warehouse, situated close to the apartment, which has about 30 flats.
But the fire for now, has extended to one apartment as fire fighters attempt to douse it and stop a possible spread to other flats.

Fire service personnel arrived about 40 minutes after the fire had started.
“I was in the office when I saw the smoke coming out from a furniture shop. It burnt for about 40 minutes and extended to the Community Apartments ‘2’ just behind the furniture shop. So far there are no casualties but the whole shop is burnt to ashes and the apartments are also in flames.”
The fire service personnel according to eyewitnesses, have run out of water and have left for more.
Reports say some unscrupulous persons have taken advantage of the fire to loot the affected homes but the police are on hand to secure the property.
