President John Dramani Mahama and Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, are in Bantama in the Ashanti Region, to pay their last respect to the late Chief of the town, Baffuor Asare Owusu Amankwatia V.
Also in attendance is the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. President John Mahama donated GHc20,000 and assorted drinks towards the funeral.

The Bantamahene kicked the bucket in January this year, after a short illness and will be buried later in the night in line with tradition.

The late Bantamahene was the traditional warlord of the Asantehene.

He ascended to the throne in 2002 after the death of the former chief.

Other dignitaries at the funeral included former Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko, comedian Agya Koo, NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Antwi Bosiako among others.
