A National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the La Dade Kotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Amasah Namoale, wants the acting Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), punished  for printing and distributing of error-ridden brochures for Ghana’s 59th Independence Day anniversary parade, calling the incident a national embarrassment.

Mr. Francis Kwarteng Arthur has come under intense pressure after he accepted blame and apologized for the use of the brochures.

[contextly_sidebar id=”un6DDIsMVNOSdZbBDEw6HgtM3eKuk3Zh”]He has subsequently revealed that the Flagstaff House approved of the material before they were printed.

Pictures of portions of the brochures which captured the President of Kenya as Ghana’s President as well as other typographical and grammatical errors, has gone viral on social media.

Some Ghanaians and Kenyans have ridiculed the government for the mistakes on social media.

Mr. Arthur admitted that the Flagstaff House designed and printed the brochure after he produced the content.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, the La Dade Kotopon MP insisted that although the acting ISD boss had apologized, the matter should not be swept under the carpet.

“At least, there must be some sanctions against him…I’m not happy, I’m highly embarrassed as a Ghanaian and I’m  embarrassed as a member of government. He doesn’t deserve to be the acting head of the Information Services Department. He must carry the whole responsibility and be kicked out of the place. If I were him I would resign but if he chooses not to resign, he should not be the acting Head of the Information Services Department” he said.

Although Mr. Namoale noted that government cannot sack a civil servant, he advised the ISD boss to resign to save him from further embarrassment.

“…If he gave the final authority for printing, then I don’t think he deserves to be there because before you give final authority for printing you might have gone through the material,” he argued.
