Speaking to the press during an inspection of the newly constructed borehole, the Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Dr. Kweku Agyeman-Manu, gave assurances that government was working hard to construct more mechanized boreholes to address the water crisis.

Mr. Agyeman-Manu said, “currently the project in Nsawam-Adoagyiri is producing 500,000 gallons of water per day. This shows that government is putting in much effort to alleviate the situation by drilling more bole holes and also continues to provide the water tanker services.”

The Minister appealed to illegal miners to stop polluting water bodies which adversely affects the treatment of water.
“I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to put a stop to activities such as galamsey which blocks and pollutes river bodies making it difficult for Ghana Water Company Limited to process water because they incur extra cost buying chemicals to treat the water.”

The Minister also urged MMDCEs and traditional authorities to play their roles effectively in tackling the water problem.
