UTV emerges most watched TV station again – GeoPoll

Accra-based United Television (UTV) has again emerged the most watched TV station in Ghana for the last quarter of 2015.

This is according to a survey conducted by GeoPoll, one the largest providers of overnight audience measurement data in Africa.

UTV in the third quarter of 2015, also topped the rating.

According to the latest survey, in the fourth quarter of 2015, UTV emerged as the most watched station, with an average audience share of 21.7 % over a period of three months from October to December.

[contextly_sidebar id=”bq99OsOOXYbgI96ir1X29MEsHrMIZTKe”]Despite maintaining their lead, the percentage is a drop since in the third quarter of the same year; it had a viewership share of 22.4%.

TV3 again came in second with an audience share of 20.5%, which is also a drop in the company’s viewership in the third quarter of 2015, which was 20.7%.

Joy Prime improved from 5th place in the third quarter to the third place with an audience share of 11.3%.

Adom TV moved from 4th in the last ratings to fourth, with an audience share of 11.2%.

GTV moved from 3rd in the third quarter of 2015, to 5th with a share of 10.0%.

According to GeoPoll, TV3 leads in the ratings from 19:00 to 19:30pm when it airs its news show “News 360”.

UTV on the other hand, has the highest overall ratings throughout prime time, with a strong jump in ratings from 8pm with an average rating of 5.54 at 8:00pm, 5.70 at 8:30 pm, 4.59 at 9:00pm and 4.38 at 9:30pm.

Joy Prime TV has the third-highest ratings for most of the evening, except at 19:00 when GTV has higher ratings.

GeoPoll found that UTV had the highest share in Q4, capturing on average 21.7% of the audience. TV3 and Joy Prime rank second and third with 20.5% and 11.3% respectively.

United Television Ghana Limited (UTV Ghana) is a private, free-to-air television broadcaster in Ghana. It is one of the youngest TV stations which was officially launched in 2013 by the Despite Group of Companies, headed by Dr.Osei Kwame Despite, owners of Peace FM, Hello FM, Okay FM, Neat FM and other businesses.

The station airs and produces a variety of television programmes including news bulletins, dramas and successful Telenovela, blockbuster movies and other entertainment shows.

UTV Ghana is arguably acclaimed as the “most local” television station in the country largely due to their keen interest to satisfy the local Ghanaian market and this is embedded in their tagline ‘it’s all about you’.
