The three teacher Unions, which threatened a strike by close of Monday February 29, are expected to meet today [Tuesday], to deliberate on the way forward.

The crucial meeting is expected to discuss whether to strike or allow the current interventions by government to go through.

[contextly_sidebar id=”6dtnS58ffL4YW3MjIAShWr1iLpFzemWo”]The  Ghana  National  Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National  Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the  Coalition of Concerned  Teachers (CCT)  have over  the past few  weeks, raised concerns about the  non-payment  of their  allowances and salary arrears, and  threatened to  strike if government did not pay  them by February 29, 2016.

In a move to   avert the   strike, government last week, paid over GHc 1.5 million as part payment of the GHc16 million owed them.

There is also currently a validation process ongoing to ensure that the rest of the amount is paid.

But the teacher unions say they need to meet today [Tuesday], to evaluate the situation and take the next step.
