Hundreds of Nigeriens in Ghana took part in the country’s polls held over the weekend.

The Nigeriens living in Ghana voted to elect a president for the country and legislators to represent them in the Assembly.

They voted at eighty polling stations in Ghana.

The Representation of the People Amendment Act, was enacted in 2007 to allow Ghanaians living abroad to vote in Ghana’s General elections but the law has since not been implemented.

Speaking to Citi News the Nigerien Ambassador to Ghana Danana Isha, said Ghana will be on the right path should it decide to allow its citizens in the Diaspora to vote.

According to Ambassador Isha, they allowed their citizens in the diaspora to vote because “they will be represented at the Assembly.”
