Hearts of Oak coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi said he would have wanted  a better showing from his players in the team’s 1-0 win on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium but was satisfied with the score.

The Phobians scored through an 82nd minute goal from Sam Yeboah to pick the points on the opening day of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League in what Yatsuhashi’s league debut.

After the match, he said the performance was not flawless but welcomed the result nonetheless.

“We did not play as we well as would like to but I was happy that we came up with the three points. We had a plan for the game and the players tried their best to go according to the plan. Of course, not everything was perfect but they played well enough to get the win. For our opponents, we need to show them respect because they made it difficult for us.”

MVP Samudeen

The match was also the first league match for midfielder Ibrahim Samudeen who was signed from King Solomon.

He recorded 18 assists for Division One side King Solomon last season and there was a lot of talk surrounding his ability to perform and Citi Sports’ Benjamin Nketsia, who was at the match, said the player showed “lots of confidence for his debut and we should be ready to see a lot more from him throughout the season.”

Samudeen’s efforts got him the Man of the Match award.
