President John Dramani Mahama has announced a Ghc100,000 support for survivors of last Wednesday’s accident on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway.

About 61 persons lost their lives while several others sustained severe injuries when a Kumasi-bound Metro Mass Transit bus traveling from Tamale, collided head-on with a truck fully loaded with tomatoes at Kintampo.

President Mahama, who bemoaned the recklessness on the country’s roads, announced the support package, when he visited survivors in the various hospitals where they were receiving treatment at Sunyani, the Brong Ahafo Regional capital.

Some of the items included cartons of Milo and milk.

At least, 23 passengers were reported injured and have been on an admission in various hospitals mainly at the Techiman Government Hospital as well as the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Others are on admission at the Sunyani Government Hospital and the Holy Family Hospital in Sunyani.
