The Ghana Boxing Association [GBA] has expressed its willingness to organize a rematch between Braimah Kamoko  aka Bukom Banku and Ayittey powers should any promoter approach them to host the bout.

Powers who lost Thursday’s bout to Bukom Banku told Citi News in an exclusive interview on Friday stated that he was ready for a rematch.”I have told his camp already that I want a rematch,”Powers said

Reacting to Powers’ request  the Public Relations Officer of the GBA disclosed that,  the  managers of both boxers will first have to communicate their readiness to engage in a rematch for a date to be agreed upon.

According to her, the Ghana Boxing Authority [GBA] was not mandated to organise bouts without consulting the managers of the boxers involved . “The Ghana boxing authority cannot sanction a rematch or the two boxers to fight no way.  In professional boxing they have their managerial team and they decide what the boxer should do.”

She further added that Braima Kamako was yet to respond to Michael Okine’s proposal .“As it stands we have not heard from Braimah Kamako,  whether he is ready for rematch. If he should also come out that he wants a rematch then the promoters can come for us to sanction a  rematch”

Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko won a 12-round unanimous decision over rival Ayittey Powers on Thursday to run his perfect record to 27-0 in a non-title “Judgement Day” bout.

As it stands, it is unclear now whether Banku will accept the challenge of a rematch after he signed a deal to face a Russian opponent on May 30.
