Employees of Airtel Ghana in collaboration with the Centre for Pregnancy and Childbirth Education (CePaCE), a non-governmental organisation, has launched an initiative dubbed “New-Born Arrival Pack” project for over 120 new mothers of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

A statement issued in Accra by the Head of Corporate Communications, Airtel Ghana, Richard Ahiagble,  and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the initiative involves an initial donation of baby care products and Airtel starter packs to beneficiary mothers.

The starter packs would connect the mothers to CePaCE for education on post-natal care to improve maternal health and reduce child mortality.

Mrs Hannah Agbozo, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director-Airtel Ghana, expressed the Company’s commitment to supporting health-related initiatives in communities especially those led by employees.

She said “Our employees are leading worthy causes in their local communities to inspire change in different ways.”

“As a responsible corporate entity, we believe that it is in the right direction if we support issues related to maternal and child health education in the society,” she added.

Ms. Eleanora P. Baffour Agyei, the Executive Director of CePaCE, was quoted as saying that the NGO was very excited about the project because of the impact it would make in the lives of beneficiaries.

Make Your Change initiative is part of Airtel Ghana’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives – providing a platform for employees to identify challenges in their communities and to bring such projects forward to be vetted and funded by the company.

It was built on the company’s strong determination to make a change in communities in which it operates.

Initiatives such as this partnership with CePaCE, are one of the many activities that have been carried out by Airtel employees on the wings of the Make Your Change project.
