“Inspiring Stories behind Our Best Loved Hymns,” an inspiring book detailing the inspirations behind the compositions of some popular hymns has been launched.

The book is co-authored by the charismatic and soulful Dr. Joyce R. Aryee, Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries and Asante Danquah, an educationist.

The ceremony was graced with the presence of three unique choirs: One Voice Choir, Harmonious Choral and Symphonials – singing some of the 130 hymns in the book whiles invited dignitaries from academia, business and politics read the stories behind the hymns.

Dr. Joyce Aryee, explained that the reason why she co-authored the book is to expose the stories behind the best hymns choral music lovers have being enjoying over the years.

“We all learned to sing hymns in school but we didn’t even know the words and we certainly did not know it was a result of a personal experience. So we decided that we will put these together because when you hear of somebody’s story you can relate it to your own story and you will realize that life is real and there are challenges.  “So instead of being discouraged or desperate, their faith in God keeps them and they are able to rise,” she added.

Dr. Aryee added that she sees this book as another step in her life because of her passion for choral music. “I think that ordinarily our lives, our brains, our outlooks get expanded when we read. And if what you are reading adds value with something that touches your spirit, it becomes better.”

Asante Danquah, the co-author explained that the inspiration for writing the book comes from people’s testimonies. “We feel that if we are able to compile such stories with hymns it will go a long way to depend people’s Christian lives. We went beyond the ordinary. We added commentaries, prayer points, memory notes and bible text so that people who use it will draw closer to God” he added.

The book, launched by Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Founder/President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach was published by Graphic Communications. It took two years of intensive research and has 130 hymns, prayer points and Bible quotations to help people in their devotional lives Some of the proceeds of the launch will be used to support Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell’s Nkanchina Leprosy Project.
