The leadership of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in the Northern Region, says it is re-branding the party to make it attractive to the youth.

The CPP founded by Ghana’s first President, Dr. Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, has been tagged as a party for the aged.

[contextly_sidebar id=”RerViubdPclZby0axuroXPo9ZaNqyU08″]The party’s Northern Regional Organizer, Seidu Hamza, told Citi News the CPP is poised to make the party more appealing to the youth.

“We are gearing up for the 2016 general elections and so the CPP has now decided to organize the youth nationwide to show the signal that the CPP is for the youth.”

Seidu Hamza urged CPP youth to shun political warmongers and concentrate on building the party’s structures.

He argues that the election of Nii Armah Akomfra as the new General Secretary, the National Youth Organizer, Ernesto Yeboah and the CPP National Communications Director, Abdul Kadri Rauf, is an indication that the party is no longer for the aged only.

The Northern Region was the CPP’s strong support base during the first republic. The dynamics changed during the fourth republic under Jerry John Rawlings’ rule.
