Ghana’s Christian Atsu has joined Malaga on loan from Chelsea until the end of the current season.

The player was expected to join Levante as news broke of an agreement between himself and the team over the weekend but he has decided to join Malaga rather.

The player completed the move on Monday but it is unclear when he will feature for the team for the first time.

Atsu said he was pleased with the prospect of getting some match time especially as he did not have a lot of match time when he went to Everton and Bournemouth on loan from Chelsea.

“I’m very happy I have finally moved to another club. It’s a new challenge and as a player you should be able to play in any league,” Atsu told Spanish media upon arrival in Spain.

“Right now it’s not about what suits or doesn’t suit you. It’s where I will get time to play.

I spoke to the coach and we had a very good chat and if I work hard there at least he will give me the chance.

“The last six months it’s been tough. Nobody can change the past but I can change the future. I am going to Spain and I think it’s a new challenge.”

Malaga are currently 12th on Spanish League table with 24 points and they play against Eibar on January 30.
