Michael Essien recorded his first goal for Panathinaikos on Sunday as his team beat Levadiakos 2-0 in the Greek Super League.

The former Chelsea midfielder connected to a pass from the right side midfield and sent his effort past Levadiakos goalie Panagiotis Tsintotas in the 78th minute.

The goal was the second for Panathinaikos after Marcus Berg gave them the lead in the 57th minute.

The win moved the Greens up to 3rd place on 35 points; 20 behind league leaders Olympiakos.

The match was Essien’s 9th of the season and he has racked up 779 minutes in match time.
