The Council Chair of the Takoradi Polytechnic, Joseph Emmanuel Ackah, has admonished graduates of the Takoradi Polytechnic not to live extravagant lives after graduation but instead, simple ones.
According to him, this will enable them save money required to pursue further education and to become more financially responsible to themselves and the society.
Some 3,146 graduands were awarded Higher National Diplomas, Bachelor of Technology Degrees and HND competency based training certificates from the National Board for Professional and Technician Examination at the Takoradi Polytechnic’s 15th congregation ceremony.
Speaking at the event in Takoradi, Joseph Ackah admonished that “Graduands live simply, avoid extravagance! This will enable you to save more money for your homes; people around you, your churches and your Alma Mata Takoradi Polytechnic…and do not forget your responsibility towards the sustenance of the Students Loan Trust”.
He reminded graduates to not only owe gratitude to their parents and teachers but the society in which they live by utilizing the knowledge acquired over the years to solve societal problems rather than creating one for society.
“Remind yourself of a quote from the famous philosopher Socrates that “man knows thyself”. This he said when realized earlier will help them avoid following the paths of “someone else.”
Hon. Emmanuel Ackah noted “it is only discipline that will help individual students stand out from other colleagues and the commitment to doing the will of God which will help you sail through in your endeavours”.
He finally reminded each graduand to take note of his or her strength and weakness.
