Ghanaians have expressed anger over what many described as a cocktail of “bitter” new year’s gift, made up of utility and fuel price hikes as well as the introduction of new taxes.

President John Mahama in response to a question by Citi Breakfast Show host Bernard Avle during an interaction with journalists, sought to explain why his government had to take that decision.

According to President Mahama, though he does not enjoy slapping taxes on Ghanaians, the hard decisions have to be taken in the interest of the country.

President John Mahama made the comment in a question at a media interaction by Citi FM’s Bernard Koku Avle.
