Togolese arrested in connection with Cantonments robbery

A Togolese national, Frederick Kwame has been arrested in connection with the robbery incident at Cantonments over the weekend involving a worker at the Koala shopping mall.

Frederick Kwame, aged 40, works with Acacia construction limited as a security guard and he is the second arrested suspect tied to that particular construction firm.

Michael Doe Ahiataku, also a security guard, has already been arrested in connection with the same incident.

[contextly_sidebar id=”jIBhWaajr5NYSJbnJpLaompEHeWzb3w1″]The Acacia construction firm is currently engaged in contraction work of an extension of the Koala shopping mall for the Koala group.

Addressing the media, Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge said Frederick Kwame had been picked up this morning for interrogation to establish if he was involved in the robbery.

ASP Afia Tenge also revealed investigations into the robbery were still ongoing and anybody suspected of involvement in the crime could be detained for questioning.

“In the course of our investigation, anybody we find to be part of or have some sort of involvement in the said crime, the person can be picked up,” she stated.

The police earlier arrested Gilbert Osabutey, a worker at the Koala shopping mall alleged to have orchestrated the crime, in addition to the two direct perpetrators of the robbery, Obaleko Stanley and Oko Quarcoo.

Obaleko Stanley and Oko Quarcoo attacked and shot a worker of Koala in her leg near the American Embassy at East Cantonments and tried to escape with her belongings on a motorbike.taxi

They were however stopped by a taxi driver who prevented their escape by ramming into them with his taxi cab.
