The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei has challenged pressure group Progressive Nationalist Forum (PNF) to file a petition against her if they feel she is occupying two positions.
The PNF group claimed that while Charlotte Osei heads the Electoral Commission, she is also a board member of the Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited, a position she held before her appointment at the commission.
[contextly_sidebar id=”HvFT2PQQLJjc42oYaY1HpMFZuIwk8D4i”]They argued that Charlotte Osei’s action breaches article 44 clause 4 of the 1992 Constitution which states that ‘’the chairman and the two deputy chairmen of the commission shall not, while they hold office on the commission, hold any other public office.”
Meanwhile the Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited had debunked the claims saying Charlottee Osei had already stepped down as board member of the company.
Speaking on Joy FM, Charlotte Osei however said “I’m hoping that whoever made this allegation is going to file some petition, so we will respond when we get there.”
“I did resign but I’m not sure that should be the focus, let’s stick to the Constitution,” she added.
