The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) Northern Regional Secretariat has described Dr. Abu Sakara Foster’s resignation from the party he led in 2012 as inappropriate.

The party’s regional education Secretary, Nayi Adam Alhassan in a Citi News interview appealed to Dr. Abu Sakara to rescind his decision.

According to him, media reports about Dr. Abu Sakara Foster’s resignation surprised the party’s leadership in the region.

“We the regional executives are very shocked and loss of words simply because we never expected such a thing coming from a person like Dr. Sakara.”

“Within this period that we needed him most we are hearing news from the media that he has taken a decision to quit the party and contest the 2016 election as an independent candidate.” Nayi Alhassan bemoaned.

He insisted the CPP 2012 Presidential candidate should reassess his chances of contesting the 2016 elections as an independent candidate and return to his mother party.

“Is never too late and our appeal to Dr. Sakara is that he should rescind his decision and come back to the CPP. The CPP today needs him so much and it will not be advisable for him to turn his back to the CPP at this particular moment.”

He recalled Dr. Abu Sakara Foster’s recent moves to rejuvenate the party in the Northern Region.

“Only two months ago we were with him in the region where he came for us to discuss issues concerning the rebuilding of the party and restructuring all the grass root levels of the party.”

Nayi Adam added, “He even went ahead to pay for a number of offices for our constituencies and also committed himself to opening offices in the Northern Region such that we as a political party will meet the criteria of being a political party in the country.”
