Scores of residents in Teshie in Accra on Tuesday, thronged the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the area to express their anger, as according to them, the credits they buy literally “vanish” after just a few days.

They accused the ECG officials of manipulating the system to short-change them.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) had in December 2015, increased electricity tariffs by 59.2 percent.

A disgruntled resident told citifmonline.com that he bought GHc50 but it got used up in just two days.

The resident said when he visited the ECG  office over the matter, he was told that someone had recharged GHc3, 000 which got exhausted within three days, hence he has no cause to complain.
