The Asutifi North District Assembly will soon inaugurate and strengthen zonal, area and unit committees of the assembly to deepen the decentralization process.

These structures are noted to be key to the decentralization process and will be done by engaging the services of National Service Personnel to augment the staff strength of the zonal and areas councils as well as grant financial independence by ceding some revenue items on commission basis to them.

These were revealed in a speech read by a Deputy Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Fritz Mensah on behalf of the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and Acting District Chief Executive of the Assembly, Eric Opoku at the second ordinary meeting of the first session of the assembly held at Kenyasi.

He commended the assembly and all stakeholders for their relentless effort towards the development of the area and called for more cooperation to efficiently implement projects and interventions for socio-economic development of the district.

He hinted the assembly from next year has set a target to construct one senior staff and junior staff accommodation to attract personnel and also to motivate them for high productivity.

On security, Eric Opoku promised to deal with persons who will break the law especially during the yuletide.

The Presiding Member (PM), Nana Owusu A Boadu outlined some revenue mobilization measures, increase in security patrols and gazetting of the assembly’s bye-laws a priority for the house next year.

He called on members to intensify the anti-bushfire campaign in their localities and appealed to government to make the area’s poor road network a top priority.

A Senior Communications Officer at Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, Angela Korang Marfo expressed her outfit’s appreciation to the assembly for the continuous collaboration in the implementation of their interventions in the communities.

She noted the best interest of beneficiary communities remains her company’s valued asset and will continue to introduce interventions in health, education and commerce to empower residents to be more productive in their areas.
