Isaac Yeboah, the Manager of Highlife legend, Amakye Dede, has been confirmed dead by police at Kyebi in the Eastern Region, following an accident on Saturday dawn that left the ‘Iron Boy’ and his bodyguard injured.
Amakye Dede’s Toyota Corolla car was rammed into by a Sprinter bus from Kumasi with him inside it, as he was waiting to perform at a show at the Paradise Spot, a few meters away from the popular Linda Dor Restaurant.
The accident at Nsutam on the Anyinam-Bunso road also left an unnamed female on-board the sprinter bus injured.
[contextly_sidebar id=”XmNLJ5JAfuNRnJCWieygAOsRNM5E8ByG”]Operations Officer of the Kyebi Divisional Police Command, ASP Peter Okyere, said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, whereas Amakye Dede and the other injured persons are receiving treatment at the Osiem Government Hospital.

He said Amakye Dede’s Manager, Isaac Yeboah, who was also the driver, was killed on the spot.
“In Amakye Dede’s car, one person died and then two persons also got injured including Amakye Dede. The one who died is Isaac Yeboah who is the manager of Amakye Dede and he was the driver as well. But for the sprinter bus, only one woman got injured” ASP Peter Okyere.
Prince Yeboah, an eyewitness at the accident scene who spoke to Citi News, blamed a taxi driver for the crash.
“I saw a taxi driver who entered the main Kumasi-Accra Highway and then he went to the fuel station to buy fuel. After that, he tried to get onto the main road but he was enjoying the music being played at the Paradise spot. But at the same time, he was entering the main road not knowing that Amakye Dede’s car was just behind his car. Once the Taxi driver realized that Amakye Dede’s car was not moving, he decided to pass by it and move onto the main road.”
“Amakye Dede also tried to move from the location and strangely an oncoming sprinter bus collided head-on with Amakye Dede’s corolla car and the taxi driver immediately sped off from the scene. There was a guy and two ladies standing at the fuel station who were also hit by the sprinter. The taxi driver caused the accident. Some people sustained injuries and there was one guy who I think can only survive by the grace of God because he got stuck in the sprinter bus and we managed to pull him out and sent him to the Hospital.”
57 year old Amakye Dede, with nearly twenty albums to his credit, is largely applauded for sustaining authentic highlife music over the years, and is loved by many.
