The Children of Sota and Abonya were dressed in their Christmas best on boxing day when Citi FM and its ardent  listeners threw a party for them.

They were expectant we (Citi FM and listeners) would honour our promise of feting them on Boxing Day.

Prior to our visit there on Friday, the children had asked for some gifts: Christmas shoes, dresses, fried rice and chicken among other items.

One child, Enoch Jatey, who said he wanted to eat Jollof rice during Citi FM’s first visit to Sota and Abonya  was full of joy when he eventually got to eat his favourite food.

“I am so happy I ate my fried rice and chicken. I want to say thank you to Citi Fm and its listeners for granting me my Christmas wish. May God continue to bless you all, he added”

Another child, Jessica Afful, 10, wearing a beautifully woven kente dress, said her expectations had been met.

With a smile on her face Jessica said, “You have no idea what this day means to me. On your first visit, I requested   for some items and you brought me exactly what I asked”.

A rather shy Ishmael Teye Tetteh, 9, who Citi FM spoke to expressed his gratitude to the listeners for the gesture.

Older folk join party

But it wasn’t only the children who were in a happy mood.  Their parents joined the celebration.

One Rosemary Bediako, in her mid-forties, was on her feet dancing throughout the event.

She told CitiFM that she had every reason to celebrate because she was still alive and kicking. She added that it was the very first time anyone had come to Sota and Abonya to celebrate Christmas with them in a grand style.
