The Council of State has impressed upon President John Dramani Mahama to fasten the process of change initiated into troubled government intervention initiatives such as the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) and Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).

“We urge government to hasten the process of his re-engineering and correction of mistakes committed during the initial implementation. Indeed, together with GYEEDA, the two institutions have the capacity to substantial help to address the long standing problem of youth unemployment in the country,” the Chairperson of the Council of State, Mrs. Cecilia Johnson said.

She said this when she made an introductory remark moments before they entered into a closed door meeting with the President at the Peduase Lodge in Aburi on Friday.

According to her, the members of the Council of State are of the view that these two initiatives if implemented efficiently, will impart positively on the nation’s economy.

“…SADA is an important vehicle for attaining the goal of self-sufficiency, especially in the production of Agricultural products,” she noted.

The Council also admonished the President to inject some urgency into the measures formulated at tackling the nation’s current economic challenges.

They asked the President to take “bold and decisive” actions to fast track efforts of confronting the country’s difficulties.

The Council of State is a recognized body charged by the constitution to counsel the president on major national issues.

The Council meets the president from time-to-time to discuss some of these issues and to find the way forward.
