The Council of State has challenged President John Mahama and his assigns to inject some urgency into the measures formulated at tackling the nation’s current economic challenges.

The Chairman of the Council of State, Mrs Cecilia Johnson, urged the President to take ‘’bold and decisive’’ actions to fast track efforts of confronting the country’s difficulties.

The council members in a meeting with the President at the Peduase Lodge in Aburi said, they are confident the country’s current challenges can be addressed; however, there is the need for clear and bold measures to be taken by government.

“Four months into the current year, our [Council of State] observations point to a clear resolve on the part of government to bite the  bullet in order to put the country on a sound footing,’’ she said.

Whilst expressing confidence in the President, Mrs Johnson said it is prudent for the President to “continue to take a bold and decisive action where necessary to hasten the process of recovery.’’

The Council of State Chairperson made these remarks moments before they entered into a closed door meeting with the President.

The meeting which is the first in the year is expected to provide a platform for the eminent persons to advice the President on current issues and also take some insight from the President on major policies of government.
