An investigation conducted by a Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang (VG) has suggested that government signed the AMERI power deal with a Norwegian fraudster at an inflated cost of $510 million.
According to the publication, Ghana paid double the price for the power plant through a self-styled Dubai prince Umar Farooq Zahoor.
Sections of the Norwegian media have reported that neither the power company nor government did due diligence on the project which has resulted in some fraudulent transactions.
But government is insisting it carefully scrutinised the deal before signing onto it.
