The family of a 22-year-old man is accusing the management of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi for negligence, leading to the disappearance of their relative who was admitted on Sunday, December 13, 2015.

The whereabouts of the victim, Alfred Fiifi Ampah, an old student of Ghana Secondary Technical School and a Private School Teacher, is unknown.

He went missing less than 24 hours after being rushed to the facility for attention after a suicide attempt.

Joseph Ampah, an elder brother of the patient, told journalists that Alfred has been so devastated by the sudden death of his mother who passed on last Wednesday under mysterious circumstances at Sekyere krobo in the Wassa East District of the Western Region

The Mother, Elizabeth Nterful, 52, a kenkey seller, was said to have been found unconscious in the bathroom and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Alfred who according to his elder brother is very fond of the mother, had been very sullen since the demise of his mother.

He was seen in an unconscious state early last Sunday morning after the family’s morning devotion which he reportedly led.

It was later established that he tried committing suicide by swallowing cocoa fertilizer. He was rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital where he was revived and was responding to treatment.

However, the patient could not be found on his bed on Monday dawn at about 3.00 am and all efforts to trace his whereabouts have proved futile.

The desperate relatives say the management of the Hospital have not been able to give them any tangible explanation on their relative’s disappearance.
