Five Upper East schools benefit from ICT project

Five Junior High Schools in the Upper East Region have been selected to benefit from a new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) project dubbed, “Hands on Computer Classes for 1,800 Ghanaian Children Project.”

The beneficiary Schools which are drawn from the Talensi, Nabdam and the Kassena-Nankana West Districts in the region are Kongo Dabore Junior High School, Yakoti Junior High School, Paga B Junior High School, Gaare-Gbane Junior High School and Pwalugu Junior High School.

[contextly_sidebar id=”bUGqbCgMipcDylSN19WbdyDZl0aotVJU”]The project started in the Volta Region in 2013 and is now being extended to three regions in the country, namely the Western, Ashanti and the Upper East.

It is being implemented by the Electronic For Library (EIFL), a Non-Governmental Organisation in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

It is also providing a Solar Panel, 15 laptops, a Unit Amplifier Speaker and a Projector with software that covers the syllabi of subjects in Junior High Schools and past examination questions to teach the students.

The Deputy Regional Director of GES in charge of planning, Mr Raymond S.M.K Abatanie, said the essence of the project would enhance the performance of ICT at the BECE level.

The Regional Librarian, Mr John Ayeseya, stated that his directorate with the Library Van in collaboration with the GES would move to the selected schools to teach ICT.
