The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and Second Vice Chairman,  Sammy Crabbe indefinitely.

The Disciplinary Committee had asked that Mr. Agyepong be given a 15-month suspension, while Mr. Crabbe was to be suspended indefinitely.

[contextly_sidebar id=”KkyWROgPHu6LQ1xQFO4TxNwGI2cWv9lx”] But when the National Executive Committee (NEC) met in a crunch meeting at the party’s Headquarters on Thursday, they decided to suspend both of them indefinitely.

Mr. Crabbe, who is perceived as an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, refused to appear before the committee after several invitations.

Mr. Agyepong, by his posture, is also perceived to have supported Mr. Paul Afoko, an action considered as an affront to the regulations of the party.

Citi News’ Franklin Badu Jnr. reports that some members of the party mostly women, stormed the headquarters to pop Champagne to celebrate the NEC’s decision.

Mr. Agyepong was present at the meeting that suspended him.

Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe will now join Paul Afoko as national officers who have been suspended by the party in less than three months.

Some political observers had warned that sidelining such figures will deepen the party’s internal strife, but others disagree.
