Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that his country will first have to navigate a treacherous group if they are to go far in next month’s World Cup finals.

The two-time world player of the year and his team-mates face three-time world championsGermany, the United States of America and four-time African champions Ghana in the Group of Death.

“We are not favorites – but we shall try to enjoy it. We know we have a complicated group,” Ronaldo told SporTV.

To help his side achieve their aim, the Real Madrid star is hoping for support from linguistic “brothers” Brazil, who are the hosts, at least until both cross swords he hopes in the final.

“I am hoping for great support from the Brazilians, it is a brother nation, speaking the same language.”

The Iberian giants kick off their campaign against Germany on June 16 in Salvador, before taking on the USA and then Ghana.
