More than 5000 Ghanaian children not in school – Action Aid

Country Director of Action Aid Ghana, Mr Sumaila Abdul-Rahman has disclosed that more than 5000 Ghanaian children  are being deprived of education.

The situation, he says could have negative consequences on national development.

Mr Abdul-Rahman made the disclosure at a ceremony to  inaugurate a three- classroom block a library and teacher’s common room, equipped with chairs and tables and water harvesting facility.

It was constructed and funded by Action Aid Ghana at a cost of GH¢150,000.00 for Kwame Brentim Basic School at Brentim in the Tain District of Brong-Ahafo Region.

The provision of the facility formed part of the organisation’s 25th anniversary celebration in Ghana.

Mr Abdul -Rahman expressed the hope that the school would assist in the prevention of truancy among pupils in the area by relieving http://vhealthportal.com/product/zyloprim/ them from walking many miles every morning to school in neighbouring towns.

He advised parents to make the education of their children a priority, since that is the best legacy they can give them.

He  appealed to the District Assembly and the District Directorate of Education to assist the school with teaching and learning materials to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr Abdul-Rahman also called on the community to assist in the maintenance of the facility.

Ms Christian Amarchey, Regional  Programme Director of Action Aid Ghana expressed appreciation to the chief of the town and other stakeholders for providing the land for the project.

She stated that the facility would save pupils from the risk of crossing rivers to attend school.
