Speaking to Citi News a mechanic who only gave his name as Korsah said the fire destroyed a number of the properties because the fire service men arrived at the scene late.

“Because we don’t have a fire service station at the Magazine, it was difficult reaching them. Though we finally succeeded in calling them, it took them about an hour to come here.  So when they came around 1am, all the eight cars and ten shops had been destroyed.
