The Acting Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor has promised to crack the whip on indiscipline within the rank and file of the Police service.
[contextly_sidebar id=”GFNmnLe1nnmK2Y6rANm3JoMDjXoZW1xf”]“We have come this far with indiscipline in the police service because commanders and officers condone little things and make unnecessary compromises in the name of being liberal officers so that they may look good in the eyes of the rank and file. For instance, the common feature for the rank and file to wear their uniform without name tags, walk in town in uniform without their head gears and even enter and leave the various headquarters in uniform without head gear while officers and commanders look on unconcerned,” he observed.
Mr Kudalor also rebuked officers and commanders for condoning such misconduct in the service.
He further charged them not to hesitate in instituting disciplinary measures against personnel who misconduct themselves.
Mr Kudalor while addressing regional commanders and crime officers from all over the country during the maiden regional commanders’ conference in Accra said the basic conduct for personnel which made the service above reproach must be adhered to.
The acting IGP added that “others drive police vehicles without uniform while others hold the caps in their hands in uniform and brace up for officers who unfortunately accept such conduct. I dare say that some officers are equally guilty of such conduct.”
He further directed the service “to go back to the basics, to this end, commanders should not hesitate to institute disciplinary action against personnel which activities in their regard undermine our efforts to remain above reproach.”
