The Ghana Police service have rejected attempts by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) to implicate them in the ransacking of the party’s headquarters.
“The Police wish to state categorically that it had no hand in the raid that took place at the party’s headquarters, and that its mandate does not include such nefarious activities,” a statement signed by DCOP Rev. David Nenyi Ampah-Bennin, Director-General of the Police Public Affairs Unit stated.

The Ghana Armed Forces had earlier dismissed the claims saying its officers did not participate in the ransacking of the Asylum Head office of the NPP.
According to the Police too, they had stayed mute all these while because they are investigating the matter “however it has become necessary to do so, to set the record straight due to the continuous peddling of this falsehood.”
The Police further assured the public that it is committed to its mandate of maintaining law and order and will continue to protect lives and property without any hindrance.
“Whilst calling on the good people of Ghana to disregard the unfounded allegations, the Police Administration is equally entreating persons who have any information on the unfortunate incident to report to the Police or any appropriate quarters for the necessary action,” the statement added.
The Police statement follows an address made by the acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay when hundreds of the party’s supporters converged at their Head office on Friday.
According to Freddie Blay, the raid was sponsored by the state to portray the NPP as a violent party.
He added that officials of the National Security were involved in the raid adding, the raid was an attack on democracy hence the need for all to condemn it.
