Displaying the 50, 10 and 5 fake cedis notes to the media, ACP Duku said “only the outer covers of the  packs are fake currencies, the remaining are papers cut into sizes of the various denominations.”

“Normally, fraudsters use such method to dupe unsuspecting people. Yesterday, upon intelligence, Tafo Pankrono Police moved to Golder hotel at Dechemso. Two men had moved to the hotel with bags suspicious of carrying some contraband goods. They even suspected it might have been drugs so the Police moved in very quickly.”

ACP narrated that “immediately they got to the counter, they saw Larry Salifu pulling a big bag containing the alleged money from the hotel room to the reception. Immediately he saw the Police, he left it there and took to his heels. The Police including the district officer chased him and got him apprehended.  The receptionist was arrested together with two men who were walking with these young men. So in all five of them were arrested.”

He therefore warned the public to look out for such characters as the festive season approaches.
